We’re thrilled to announce that Princeton University Press has recently become a member of the Independent Publishers Caucus (IPC). As an independent, university-affiliated nonprofit publisher, we’re grateful for this opportunity to both celebrate and enrich our connections to the indie press community.
This newest professional affiliation builds on PUP’s memberships to the Association of American Publishers (AAP) and Association of University Presses (AUPresses), as well as the UK’s Independent Publishers Guild and offers valuable pathways for peer-to-peer learning and collaboration with Caucus members—a truly inspiring roster of publishers, with whom PUP shares many experiences within the publishing ecosystem, including collaborations with the Books Across Borders program since 2017.
The IPC is guided by an inspiring mission to raise awareness of independent publishers; provide community resources and education; function as “keepers of the torch” of American culture, in partnership with writers, translators, booksellers, and others; advocate for diversity, tolerance, and inclusive across the industry; and build bridges with independent booksellers and librarians. The group facilitates educational and community-building opportunities and advocates for independently owned and operated presses, while also fostering essential connections with indie booksellers and librarians, critical partners for fulfilling PUP’s mission to share influential ideas and foster human conversations the world over.
We extend our thanks to the IPC for welcoming PUP into this vital and vibrant independent publisher community and look forward to many collaborations ahead.
