I acquire field guides and a broad range of nature reference titles, and I also work on a select number of fully interactive apps. For the field guide program, I am particularly interested in projects covering the Americas, but the list is also rich in titles treating the birds or other wildlife of other regions, or animal families in a global context, such as José R. Castelló’s Canids of the World. Many of the bird guides are indispensable resources for birders and conservation professionals—books such as Birds of Peru (by Thomas S. Schulenberg, Douglas F. Stotz, Daniel F. Lane, John P. O’Neill and Theodore A. Parker III), Birds of Central America (by Andrew C. Vallely and Dale Dyer), and Birds of New Guinea (by Thane K. Pratt and Bruce M. Beehler), to name but three.

Larger nature reference books play an important role in the list as a whole, and I will consider a wide range of potential projects, as long as they are original in concept and execution. Titles such as Joseph S. Wilson and J. Messinger Carril’s The Bees in Your Backyard, Katrina van Grouw’s Unnatural Selection, and Jillian Cowles’s Amazing Arachnids are excellent examples of the kind of references I like to publish.
